Starting out as a drum n bass dj, London based Dax J, had his first releases under various aliases on Mickey Finn’s legendary Urban Takeover label with later releases on his own imprint Xplicit Sound. He spent many years as a DJ on the drum n bass circuit and hosted a show on one of London’s leading pirate stations Origin Fm. In early 2009 he released his debut artist album “Heaven and Hell,” showing his versatility as a producer fusing House, Techno, Drum n Bass & Electronica to create his own signature sound.
Within a short space of time Dax J has seen track support from the likes of Umek, Jon Rundell and Pete Tong. Label wise, he has had tracks signed and released on Airbus, Aux, Bedlam, ESWAT, Phonico, Industry of House, Mercado Paralelo, Symphonic Digital Records, Xplicit Sound & Vector Records 2.0.
His debut release on AUX is an infectious mixture of pounding big room techno and Tech-house grooves. With catchy hooks and a soulful energy, which gives his productions a unique, yet elegantly crafted sound.
Remixes of Lucky Motel come courtesy of some very special guest remixers; first up is Techno legend and Carl Cox favourite Jon Rundell who turns out a dark, minimal groover, staying true to the original’s sound and vibe. Next up is fast rising Bristol producer Oli Brand, who’s recent track ‘Clone’ made it to the finals of the LOT49 ‘New Lot’ Competition. His version is an energetic Techno number, showing off his excellent production skills. Taking a slightly different direction, Hironimus Bosch turns out a funked up Tech-House rework, with wobbly percussion and throbbing bass. Look out for more Dax J releases forthcoming on AUX.
